Djuna von Maydell
Graduate Student

Djuna received her B.Sc. in Biomedical Science with Extramural Year from King’s College London. As an undergraduate student, she studied how shifts in vaginal metabolome and microbiome composition predict pregnancy outcome, in the lab of Dr James Mason. She spent two years working in Dr. Rudolph E. Tanzi’s lab at MGH/Harvard, during which she used transcriptomic and mutagenesis techniques to understand Aβ – dependent pathogenic cascades in a three-dimensional human cell culture model of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Djuna joined the PhD program in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at MIT in Fall 2019. She is currently interested in using single-cell transcriptomic analysis to investigate mechanisms underlying cognitive resilience.
