Oyku Cerit
Technical Associate

Oyku graduated from Sabanci University in Istanbul with a double major in Materials Science/Nanoengineering and Molecular Biology/Genetics. Her interest in biomaterials led to a Harvard-MIT HST internship on bioprinting and drug delivery, and then to a master’s in Materials Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. There Oyku developed a “brain on a dish” model to provide alternatives to animal testing. In this work she aimed to introduce methods of incorporating microglia into the mini-brains in order to create in-vitro wound models to study regeneration. Oyku has also worked on producing 3D MEAs for mini-brains. In addition, her time at Hopkins included an internship on developing stable platforms for novel bi-specific antibodies.
At the Tsai Lab, Oyku looks forward to continuing her work with brain organoids, and is excited to begin collaborations exploring biomaterials and microfluidics.
